The Client

Bloomsberry — a café that had outgrown its tools.

Bloomsberry is a premium café in Dhanmondi, Dhaka: a full menu, a busy kitchen, table service, takeaway, and a store room that has to be right every morning. On the floor it looked polished. Behind the counter, it was held together by paper, spreadsheets, and memory.

The Problem

A café sells one burger. In most restaurants, that’s five separate problems.

One order should be simple. Instead it fractured across five tools that never talked to each other — so the same number got written down five times, and none of them matched.

Orders on paper, shouted down the line

Tickets carried by hand. A modifier missed on a loud Friday night means a remade plate and a walked-out guest.

Stock counted by hand — and never trusted

“Is that 13.9 or 13.8?” Counted twice, still a guess. You find out you’re out of beef when the order fires.

A P&L reconciled at month-end — if ever

No one knew today’s real margin. By the time the numbers were added up, the month it described was already gone.

Prices and menus changed in three places

Update the website, forget the ordering screen. The kitchen cooks from a menu that no longer matches the till.

Staff tasks and hours on memory

Who opened? Who closed? Was the fridge checked? The manager had to ask — and hope the answer was true.
